Environmental Permitting PDF Print E-mail

New Environmental Permitting (EP) Regulations came into force on 6th April 2008 combining Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC) and Waste Management Licensing (WML) regulations.

If you already have a PPC permit or a Waste Management License, it automatically became an Environmental Permit form 6th April 2008. You don’t need to reapply and your permit will not be reissued and will contain the same conditions as before.

How can Dennis Environmental help?

We can assist with new permit applications
We can assist with submitting a variation to an existing permit
We can assist with surrendering a permit

If you require an Environmental Permit:

Having determined that your facility is regulated under the Environmental Permitting (EP) Regulations we can complete the application procedure for example:

·          Completion of the application forms
·          Ensuring applications are complete and duly made
·          Determination of the time period for the application
·          Provision of further information to the regulator to determine the duly made application
·          Provision of public consultation information

In order to ensure that a regulated facility has a high level of environmental protection, operators should have an effective management system in place. Dennis Environmental will ensure that the nature of the required management system is comparative to the complexity of the regulated facility.

If you require a variation to an existing Environmental Permit:

The Regulator may vary permit conditions at any time, even if the operator has not requested this. It is most likely to do this in response to the findings of a permit review because additional conditions are needed to deal with new matters or where the compliance assessment has identified the need to vary conditions. A variation may however be necessary for another reason such as a new Environmental Quality Standard (EQS).

Where the Regulator decides to vary permit conditions it will serve a variation notice and will consult in much the same way as when the operator asks for a variation. Dennis Environmental can provide support when a variation is required and also are able to carry out compliance assessment when the permit conditions require the operator not just to provide basic data (i.e. actual results from monitoring equipment), but also whether they are meeting the conditions of the permit.

If you wish to surrender an Environmental Permit:

If your operation permanently ceases then you will need to apply to the regulator to surrender your permit.

Permit surrender involves describing the steps taken to avoid any pollution risks or to return the site to a satisfactory condition. You must supply a surrender site condition report describing the condition of the site at permit surrender and the remediation of any significant land pollution caused during the permit lifetime.
